Hillary Clinton, well known for claiming that her critics and political enemies are part of a vast right wing conspiracy, is now under attack from a new and different direction; the left. Worse still, the new attack from the left appears as if it is actually coming from the Obama Administration.
The Clinton campaign has been sinking for several months in the face of an electorate that is increasingly finding Hillary to be dishonest and untrustworthy. The majority of voters have, for a very long time, perceived Clinton as a dishonest, power hungry politician who will do or say anything to get elected. But, until recently, most of the voters that believe she is dishonest still supported her. That support is now waning.
Pushed along by Clinton’s email scandal, democrat voters and democrat party officials are growing less tolerant of Hillary’s dishonesty and corruption, at least insofar as it has become publicly evident. The Clinton email scandal, which is a self inflicted wound, has put a great deal of negative pressure on Hillary’s reputation and her chances of ever becoming the democrat candidate for president.
Although Hillary has proven very resilient when it comes to surviving charges of dishonesty and corruption, she is already threatened by a growing trust deficit with voters. Now Hillary is facing a more powerful adversary. The truth. Although she probably sees it as a vast left-wing conspiracy.
The news that two inspectors general from the Obama administration want the Justice Department to initiate an investigation of Clinton’s handling of classified material while Secretary of State. This may be a dagger in the heart of the Clinton campaign. For many democrats, it will serve as final proof she is fatally flawed.
White House May Be Behind Investigations
At issue is Clinton’s use of a private email server instead of a government email. Using a private email address and server (her email address was hosted @clintonmail.com on a server housed at her home in Chappaqua NY) violated a lengthy list of federal laws, rules and regulations. Clinton has been playing defense against these charges since the private email story broke in March. But now Clinton classified email puts her in a far worse position, because she is almost certainly up against the White House according to this article in the NY Post.
“Somebody very high in the food chain leaked the memos requesting the probe. The New York Times, which broke the story, identified its source only as a senior government official.” reports the New York Post, adding “My money is on Valerie Jarrett, the Obamas’ Rasputin, who is known to despise Clinton. If it was Jarrett, she would not do this against the president’s wishes.”
That also would be true for any “senior government official” who leaked the memos. Targets don’t get any bigger than Hillary Clinton, so this was not a rogue operation. This was an approved hit, reported the Post.
Her arrogance and outrageous lies about the emails must have infuriated Barack Obama and senior Obama administration officials. Her decision to conduct government business on a private server housed in her home was in direct opposition to administration requirements, national archive laws, national security laws and Freedom Of Information Act laws.
When it was revealed in March that she had deleted tens of thousands of emails before cherry-picking a limited number of emails she deemed government property, she compounded her problems by resorting to blatantly dishonest explanations that were disprovable – that were later disproved – and by insisting that she did nothing wrong. Of course what she did was wrong and illegal, and it would take a special kind of stupid not to see that.
Hillary Offers Only Dishonest Explanations
Clinton’s claim that she acted out of convenience was a big lie. She used a private email server so that her emails would remain forever secret and not subject to the scrutiny of Congress, the media, the White House and the little people. It’s obvious now she miscalculated the impact the email debacle would have and, as a result, she may well have destroyed her chance of becoming president.
Hillary’s problems aren’t limited to the classified material issue, although violations of federal law concerning classified communications from a private server could lead to jail time. Her problems are far more widespread. Any honest prosecutor looking at her emails would also look for evidence she traded government favors for contributions to the Clinton Foundation and its affiliates and subsidiaries, as well as other payment types for paid speeches and the like.
There is also a federal law that requires government employees to preserve original documents – be they printed or electronic – rather than printing 55,000 pages of your favorites for public consumption while destroying the originals. This law doesn’t carry very serious jail time for violations (a maximum term of three years) but it provides for a much more serious penalty insofar as Hillary is concerned because you can never again hold public office.
Bill and Hillary Clinton were paid upwards of $25 million, ostensibly for speeches, in just 16 months. A substantial amount of that money came from individuals, groups and companies who had business interests that could benefit greatly if they had the support of the Secretary of State. The very definition of conflict of interest.
There are also numerous suspicions about payments made by foreign governments and foreign companies. For example, Ericsson, the Swedish conglomerate, paid Bill Clinton $750,000 for a speech at the same time Ericsson was lobbying to avoid being penalized for doing business with Iran, in violation of sanctions in place against the Islamic Republic.
It is a shame, she indicated, that she had wiped the server clean, because it would have exonerated her. Although I cannot remember an innocent person ever destroying the very evidence that would prove them innocent, Hillary could still turn the server over to forensic experts to recover the data. Servers are never really erased unless the data is overwritten with new data 35 times. Surely someone as innocent as Hillary claims she is, did not overwrite the data 35 times to insure its destruction. So she should take heart that all of that evidence to prove her innocence and purity is still there, and she can hand it over to experts today to recover the data. No, I didn’t think so. If the story persists, maybe we’ll all get to hear about the new vast left wing conspiracy.
Looking at the bright side for Hillary, even with 30,000 deleted emails, she may survive this whole mess. Nixon only faced 18 1/2 minutes and he was run out of office in disgrace.
