Despite what you may have heard or read elsewhere, Hillary Clinton refuses to testify on Benghazi. Clinton has again stepped up to the cameras and lied, claiming that she is anxious to answer questions before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, chaired by South Carolina Republican Trey Gowdy. Stating that she has always been ready to appear, she is now scheduled to testify before Trey Gowdy’s committee on October 22.
Despite the fact that mainstream media is reporting that Clinton will testify and has been scheduled to testify, in reality, Hillary Clinton refuses to testify on Benghazi unless the House Select Committee on Benghazi agrees to limit the scope of the questions Clinton will face. Apparently, Clinton is less anxious to lie under oath than she is to the media.
Portraying herself as reasonable in the face of right wing persecution, Hillary acted as if she had already answered all questions, but was happy to testify, yet again, to insure that the American people get the truth they deserve. Despite a demeanor that suggests she is being persecuted by having to testify, yet again, the truth is that Clinton has never appeared before the select committee.
Her self-serving appearance before the cameras was disingenuous because Clinton refuses to testify on Benghazi unless the House Select Committee on Benghazi agrees to limit the questions they will pose to Clinton. At the same time the Clinton campaign was making the claim that Hillary was going to answer the committee’s questions, Clinton lawyers were setting limitations on the questions Hillary was willing to answer.
In a show of unabashed arrogance, Clinton refuses to testify on Benghazi because she refuses to answer questions about her private email server.
Clinton Refuses To Testify On Benghazi Without Limitations
A spokesman for the House Select Committee on Benghazi blasted Hillary Clinton’s legal team Saturday for demanding “artificial limitations” on the questions she is willing to answer. Jamal Ware, spokesperson for the Benghazi Committee, said on Saturday that Clinton’s attorney David Kendall was still trying to negotiate the terms under which Clinton would testify on Friday night.
“The Committee will not, now or ever, accept artificial limitations on its congressionally directed jurisdiction or efforts to meet the responsibilities assigned to the Committee by the House of Representatives,” Ware said. He noted that Kendall had in the past agreed that Clinton would “answer all questions the Committee had about Libya, Benghazi, and Clinton’s unusual email arrangement with herself.”
But Ware said Kendall has since indicated that Clinton is unwilling to discuss her controversial private email server, instead insisting she would only respond to questions that fell within the scope of the resolution that created the select committee.
“Once there is an agreement on the date and a better understanding of how, if at all, Secretary Clinton’s lawyer’s latest writing differs from previous ones, the Committee will announce said hearing date,” Ware said, although the top Democrat on the select committee said the appearance is slated for October.
The Clinton email scandal has plagued Hillary’s campaign since early March, when it became known that Hillary had illegally shielded four years of email communications while serving as Secretary of State from Freedom Of Information Act requests and from congressional inquiry. The democratic front runner has suffered significantly in the polls as she has stumbled from one dishonest explanation to the next.
Clinton’s email system, which was conceived only to keep congress and the American people from sticking their noses in her business fell under new scrutiny Friday when the story broke that Clinton has been referred to the Justice Department for a criminal investigation. The criminal referral comes from two independent inspectors general who report finding hundreds of Clinton emails that potentially contain classified information from Clinton’s private email server. If classified information was either sent or received using Clinton’s email server, it is a felony that would preclude Clinton from ever holding public office.
One must again ask where Hillary Clinton gets the nerve to refuse to give congressional testimony. The bigger question is how can anyone support or vote for a proven liar who put the national security of the United States at risk because she didn’t want her email to be scrutinized.
