ObamaCare promises; we all remember the big ones, like, “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” and “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” Those were the Obama lies everyone remembers. If you happen to be one of the liberals who occasionally reads Intelligent US Politics and you’re thinking about challenging me calling Obama a liar, don’t. You may think about trying to defend the liar, but you can’t; his lies about ObamaCare are indefensible, and you really don’t want any part of the beating I’ll throw you.
These weren’t the only ObamaCare lies we were told. ObamaCare was supposed to provide more Americans with more affordable health care. It was supposed to extend health coverage to thirty million Americans who didn’t have insurance. It was going to save American families $2,500 a year in health insurance premiums. It was going to be hugs and puppies for everyone. But as everyone now knows, ObamaCare promises are being exposed as lies.
ObamaCare Promises Are Being Exposed As Lies
Five years after his signature legislation became law, Obama’s brand of socialized medicine hasn’t delivered on his promises. Americans are paying more for health insurance than ever before. Some are even dying before they should. And it’s going to get a whole lot worse as ObamaCare promises are increasingly being exposed as lies.
Barack Obama’s signature legislation was supposed to provide more Americans with more affordable health care. Americans weren’t going to be burdened with budget-breaking medical expenses. More Americans would live healthy lives. American families were supposed to enjoy an abundance of ObamaCare benefits while saving $2,500 per year for health insurance. Instead, ObamaCare promises are being exposed as lies.
The reality of ObamaCare is coming up a great deal short of what Barack Obama promised us five years ago. Rather than the cost savings we were all to enjoy, more Americans are paying a great deal more for health insurance. Some are even dying well before they should. And, the open enrollment for ObamaCare, which began November 1st isn’t making things any better.
Many Americans are shocked by the new premiums they are facing. Already substantially higher than what was promised, premiums for mid-level ObamaCare plans are increasing by an average of 7.5 percent, according to calculations by The Wall Street Journal. But wait, there’s more.
The Kaiser Family Foundation has found that ObamaCare premiums in Tennessee, Minnesota and Alaska are shooting up by one third. Americans in North Carolina, Nebraska and Arizona are facing more than a 20 percent bump in premiums. And in South Carolina, Iowa and Louisiana rates are climbing more than 10 percent. No one has ever seen the promised $2,500 annual savings and they never will.
Barack Obama made more ObamaCare promises than anyone can document when selling ObamaCare to the American people, but they weren’t true. Now, five years after passage, more of Obama’s promises are being exposed as lies. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as it turns out, is only affordable if you’re a member of Congress or a White House staffer.
Having survived two Supreme Court challenges, the Obama Administration is poised to start collecting penalties. Starting next year, the penalty for having no health insurance is at least $695 per adult, or more based upon your household income. At least you can feel good about paying the penalty, because it’s not a penalty after all. It’s an “individual shared responsibility payment,” a socialist platitude if ever there was one.
But wait, there’s more. The lies we were told about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act weren’t limited to the affordable part. Obama lied to us about the care and patient protection parts too.
Patient Protection Non-Existent As Preventative Screenings Abandoned
There was supposed to be patient protection that came with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. We were all to be healthier as a result of the preventative care we were going to receive. That’s not how it’s working out. Instead we’re being steered away from recommended screenings and preventative care.
In a recent New York Times op-ed article, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the architects of ObamaCare, urged Americans to “skip your annual physical” because, he says, it’s “basically worthless.” Emanuel, who is the brother of Chicago mayor and former Obama Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel, is a scholar at the liberal Center for American Progress, a progressive organization tied to the Clintons.
More troubling than telling us to skip our annual check-ups is some of Dr. Emanuel’s written work, in which he states that life after 75 is not worth living. He has also written that the public good supersedes longevity as the goal of health care policy. Emanuel is an advocate of population control.
Be careful about accepting what Obama and government agencies tell you about healthcare guidelines and screening procedures. There are plenty of disingenuous hacks in the health care industry who are more than willing to provide cover for Obama and Emanuel.
The US Preventive Services Task Force changed a long established policy. They now recommend discontinuing PSA tests for prostate cancer screening. They say the benefits were too small. Tell that to thousands of men who were saved from prostate cancer because of early detection. The American Cancer Society has now revised their breast cancer screening guidelines. Their new guideline delays mammograms from age 40 to age 45. None of these make Americans healthier. There are also a litany of studies showing that we are less healthy since the passage of ObamaCare.
It turns out that Obama has the same effect on the health of Americans as he does on the health of the American economy.
